After removing those who don't respond, don't receive regular enquiries anyway, DON'T MAKE THEIR SITE UPKEEP CONTRIBUTION, don't show much sign of activity, or have actively asked me to be removed after being fed up with the host role in the cheap hospitality game (see the ugly note on the left as an example why) I was left with very little..

During school year a room for one may be available, short term only, right by Metro Alexeyevskaya. Easy people only, single travellers only, short term only, $35/night. Quiet, unlimited Internet with Wi-Fi, washer.. In summer 2012 the whole apartment can be can be booked. More >>

From Dimitry on Maroseyka, Metro Kitay-Gorod. An absolutely prime neighbourhood: a few steps from the good old KGB headquarters, the new powerful Drug Control Committee so full of zeal that in June 2011 they prohibited parsley and cumin, the oldest synagogue in Moscow, and the Lutheran church.   • Warning: the owner is a bit of an asocial type and a chain smoker but otherwise a pleasant and helpful fellow who speaks fluent English and responds enquiries fast.

  • Jan. 18 2010 inspection visit: the amount of junk is way down; room rated as livable and even cozy but for marketing purposes I'll stick to the ultra-authentic generations-of-clutter image.

  • May 2011 - The availability rate is very low. The closest bed you can get at this price bracket is the Basilica Hostel on Solyanka.

Metro Tushinskaya, 30 min. walk or 15 min. by bus. Kids, cats, dogs, canaries.. $25-30/night. The whole apartment may be available in summer. more >>

Another offer from Snejana. 10-15 minutes by bus from Metro VDNKh or Alexeyevskaya. Next to the Botanical Gardens. Quiet! 20-25Euro/night. Long-term possible, about 400Euro/month. The whole apartment may be available May to September. more >>

  • WARNING: SHE OFTEN RENTS TO RUSSIANS, AND RUSSIANS AND WESTERN BACKPACKERS OFTEN FEEL AWKWARD AROUND EACH OTHER. NOT TO MENTION THE RISK OF THEFT.
  • IN MAY 2011 VALENTINA LEFT HER MOSCOW AFFAIRS IN THE HANDS OF PEOPLE I CANNOT RECOMMEND. I LOOK FORWARD TO VALENTINA'S RETURN.
April 20, 2009  THE CHEAPEST VALID/VERIFIED OFFER ON MY LIST! From Leo/Eugenia Izmailovo, east end, about 20 min. walk from Metro Shelkovskaya. A room cluttered beyond belief. BUT CHEAP!!! No roaches! Plumbing sort of works. Washing machine. Lots of cheap shopping nearby. Interesting hosts, themselves extreme-budget travellers. $10-15/night!!!  Leo speaks English! High availability. Know of any good places to crash cheap? Help your fellow travellers and local hosts by sharing this information.   Leave a note in my Guestbook from where it will eventually get to this or other lists and/or send me an e-mail.

 

Don't hesitate to complain. Just be sure you clearly state the facts and identify yourself.

There are some problem travellers too. Yes, hosts may and are encouraged to share information on assholes.

Yes, report on each other! Help me justify my profound conviction that mass travel is  a disgrace.

Hosts! You can add or re-submit your offer. Just e-mail me. There is a catch however. I MUST FIND YOUR OFFER INTERESTING. Descriptions with "nice" and "cozy" are received weekly and go unnoticed.

If you start to receive clients from this site regularly I'll expect a 10% site upkeep contribution from you. SEVERAL HOSTS FAILED TO HELP ME IN SITE UPKEEP AND WERE THUS REMOVED.
