Based on the types of clients we get I've come up with three distinctly different approaches to showing you foreigners around. Please select the format that suits you best. Feel free to tell me what you want. I'm always willing to adapt to your individual requirements. Sights and Attractions is the most popular tour. Cross-Section of Moscow is intended for those who need to spend some time in Moscow, and is conceptually close to the Moscow Orientation Tour. My favourite however is The Real Thing, the product intended for the adoptive parent who want to understand the world that generated their child, made a lasting imprint on him, and will become part of your life too. I regret to say that my most valuable product enjoys the least popularity.

SIGHTS AND ATTRACTION OF MOSCOW

[illustrate with this silly St. Basil's, mention GUM and souvenir shopping, complimentary nesting doll with Uncle Pasha's logo and such]

This individual guided tour approximately 3 hours long will give you an overview of the city that is quickly becoming one of the more popular tourist destinations in Europe.

We will visit the beautiful Red Square, the spectacular GUM shopping mall, walk through the Alexander Garden by the Kremlin wall, and pause by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  [and Pasha himself will call silly things "awesome" and "splendid" without throwing up in your presence]

We’ll circle the Garden Ring and proceed to the lookout point on the Sparrow Hills by the University, and then to the memorial park on the Bowing Hill.

The famous Moscow subway system, too, is a part of this tour.

I will show you Moscow in all of its splendor and glory.

You will have plenty of opportunity to make beautiful pictures. A digital camera able to record directly to mini-CD that can be read by just about any computer is available to create an instant archive of your Moscow visit.

The tour will be conducted in the professional “the church on your left was build in xxxxx and represents the yyyy style of architecture” format and is intended for middle-aged Americans.

Before embarking on this tour your guide will be primed to smile cheerfully, overuse superlatives, and not to be too smart.

MOSCOW: A CROSS-SECTION OF THE CITY

This exercise is designed to help you look into the anatomy and mechanics Moscow as a complex, active, and developing organism. We’ll see and observe people in stores, offices, factories, schools, kindergartens. We’ll spend time in traffic and walk with the retired in quiet city parks.  We’ll do informal interviews with people to try to understand what motivates them.

True, we’ll see some of the “touristy” stuff (see above) but that will not be our goal. We may and will likely encounter not so glamorous if not to downright ugly aspects of the city.  Trying to understand the spirit and rhythm of the country’s economic powerhouse – that’s the main idea of this version of the tour.

This tour will be conducted in a relaxed learning exercise manner.

RURAL AND SMALL TOWN RUSSIA

“The real thing”.

In all probability your adoptive child came from a small town or a village.

Let’s, then, venture into the environment that shaped your child’s character and that is likely to exert its influence throughout his or her life. And become a part of yours too.

Plan to watch, observe and think.

While this is not intended as a pleasant tour through picturesque towns and villages, I would rather not have it turn into a thrill-seeking exercise either.

If, however, you intend to adapt your child to the American ways by the “smile and be happy or I will not buy you your ice cream” methods – and I am not making this phrase up – I recommend you limit yourself to the Red Square – St. Basil’s – Bolshoi – Sparrow Hills – Arbat routine.

COSTS

The fees are based on the $20/hour rate and include the use of the vehicle. A typical quick overview tour of Moscow costs is $60, a more extensive one will cost around $100. The daily rate (unlimited number of hours) for a fluently bilingual guide (me or someone with my qualifications) is $200.

If you plan to travel through the countryside extensively, I can appoint one of my associates to act as your travel companion to keep you safe and comfortable, at the rate of $50-80/day.

TRANSPORTATION

Please note that we use a mechanically sound but a beaten up on the outside vehicle to minimize the amount of undesirable attention.

Pasha, Olesya

I recently completed my adoption of 2 Russian boys (8 & 9) through xxx.  In a long and emotional process, Pasha Voytinsky and his wife Olesya were like found treasure for me.  Finding them on the internet, I felt that their services sounded reasonable and helpful, and I wanted to take advantage of the necessary trip to learn about the city of Moscow and Russian culture.  I was more than pleasantly surprised by the value I received for my investment.  After making their acquaintance and doing business with Pasha and Olesya, I used their services again on the second trip.

Pasha lived in Canada for several years and in Russia for several years, and he is a philosopher of both cultures.  If you have not made your first trip, you cannot imagine what a great thing it is to have someone at your service in Moscow who understands and appreciates Western Culture.

In short, he is prompt, he is a man of his word, he is fair, he is fluent in English, and he will be the first person I call before I return to Moscow.  I am sure you will find him as helpful as I did.

God bless you in this incredible journey.
